No personal data, data in Excel, or any other data stored on your PC will ever be transferred to PyXLL.
The PyXLL Software License Agreement contains a clause relating to anonymous data collection for the purpose of licence enforcement, usage tracking and for the purpose of optimising and improving the software. The intention of this clause is not to allow sensitive or personal data to be transferred to PyXLL.
PyXLL may peridocally attempt to connect to the endpoint https://api.pyxll.com/license-check. If it is able to, it will send a message containing a unique identifier relating to the license key in use along with an MD5 hash of the current username, MAC address and local IP address. An MD5 hash is a one way hash function that we use as a fingerprint to distinguish distinct users. It is not possible to obtain the username, MAC address or IP address from the MD5 hash value that is sent and this information cannot be used to identify indivual users.
The add-in uses this to check if the current license key has been renewed. This avoids having to update the license key manually on renewal.
If PyXLL cannot reach the endpoint https://api.pyxll.com/license-check then the add-in will continue to work without any problems. It is not a requirement that the license server be reachable in order for you to use PyXLL. The only functionality that will be lost by not having access to this end point is the auto-renewal feature and the license key will need to be updated manually on renewal.
